CWP Diabetes
Prevention Program
The Children’s
Wellness Program, directed by our own Dr. Patricia Riba, MA, MD,
successfully implemented the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)
at Willard Intermediate School in Santa Ana. DPP was a six-week
program for 7th grade students that sought to address
the issue of childhood obesity and reduce the risk of diabetes
in teenage children. Through proper nutrition, health education,
exercise, cooking demonstrations, and an emphasis on the
psychology of eating and feeding, DPP promoted healthy lifestyle
changes among participants and brought about significant
results. Congratulations Dr. Riba and staff!
