Health and Activity Program Promoted for Youth - H.A.P.P.Y.
Health Scholars - H.A.P.P.Y. is to promote active play and promote healthy eating habits among children residing (but not limited to) in the city of Santa Ana. The different components that HAPPY offers are at the G.R.E.E.N. project and Reach out and Read. HAPPY serves about 30 children per month. The G.R.E.E.N. project takes place at Madison Elementary School in the city of Santa Ana, while Reach out and Read is conducted in the UCI Santa Ana Family Health Center.
What we offer:
- Fun active play for children to increase their communication and social skills while being physically active
- Reading books to children about healthy habits
- One-on-One mentoring adolescents on healthy lifestyles and college

*Currently, H.A.P.P.Y does not have an IRB nor collecting data, but will be assisting faculty director Dr. Candice Taylor Lucas, in future research.
